Loch Ken Paddle Expedition

Between: 21st September 2024 - 22nd September 2024 Location: Loch Ken Sections: Explorer Scouts, Scouts over 13 Event Organiser: Water Programme Team

This event is suitable for Scouts over 13 and Explorers

Loch Ken is still a relatively little visited area of Scotland and offers peace and quiet and plenty of wildlife and is easily reached from North Yorkshire.

This is a multi-day self-sufficient canoe trip, where you will be expected to carry all your equipment that you require for an overnight and two-day expedition.

We will be using tandem open canoes, there will be a mixture of river and loch sections and will be overnighting at Loch Ken holiday park. The standard of your paddling should be at Paddle UK Discover or Scouts Paddlesport 2.

The costs for the event includes transport from Ellerton Park and return, camping fees. You will be responsible for catering for yourself from lunch time Saturday to returning home on Sunday. (Saturday and Sunday lunches will need to be packups and you will need a stove to prepare your evening meal on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday) Arrangements for Breakfast on Saturday will be advised nearer the time.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
