From Beavers to Leaders: Connor and Jacob’s Journey with Derwent Valley Scout Group

Connor and Jacob have been part of Derwent Valley Scout Group for many years. They first joined as Beavers and made their Promise at Filey Park.

Since then they have progressed through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. Along the way they have taken part in camps, trips, competitions, fundraising activities and plenty of challenges.

When they reached Explorers they both joined the Young Leader Programme. They supported the Beaver and Cub sections and became familiar faces to the younger members.

Being Young Leaders gave Connor and Jacob the chance to take on more responsibility. It also helped them develop their confidence and leadership skills.

Now they have taken another step and joined the Adult Leadership Team at Derwent Valley.

It is great for the group to see two people who started as Beavers now returning as adult volunteers. They have experienced the different sections themselves and can now use that experience to support younger members.

Connor and Jacob will continue to support Beavers and Cubs as part of the leadership team. They will help provide the activities and experiences that first brought them into Scouts.

Derwent Valley Scout Group is looking forward to having them as part of the team.
