Selby Scouts Enjoy an Unforgettable Adventure in London
Young people from 6th Selby Brayton Scouts (Adder Troop) recently enjoyed an exciting trip to London, packed with adventure, iconic sights and a few unforgettable moments along the way. The group, part of Selby District Scouts in North Yorkshire, travelled to the capital for a visit that combined challenge, culture and plenty of fun.
One of the standout moments of the trip was taking on the Up at The O2 experience, where the group climbed across the roof of the famous O2 arena. In two groups, 22 scouts successfully completed the climb, stepping out onto the high walkway and making their way across the dome. The activity was both thrilling and rewarding, with incredible views across London waiting at the top.
The adventure continued at Battersea Power Station, where the group experienced the impressive Lift 109 chimney lift. Travelling up inside one of the building’s iconic chimneys, the scouts were treated to breathtaking panoramic views across the capital. Seeing the city skyline from above was a highlight for many in the group.
The visit also included time to explore some of London’s well-known landmarks and green spaces. During a walk through St James’s Park, one of the group even managed to capture a quick photograph of one of the park’s colourful parakeets, which have become a familiar sight in the area.
To round off the trip, the group attended the spectacular West End musical Back to the Future. The production impressed everyone with its incredible stage effects and storytelling, particularly the moment when the famous DeLorean appears to fly across the stage, which left the audience amazed.
Trips like this give young people the opportunity to step outside their everyday routines, try new experiences and spend time together creating lasting memories. For the members of 6th Selby Brayton Scouts, their London adventure was certainly one to remember.
