Richmondshire District President honoured at Royal Garden Party
There are few honours that recognise a lifetime of dedication quite like an invitation to a Royal Garden Party, and for Richmondshire Scouts’ District President, Valerie Patchett, it was a truly well deserved occasion.
Valerie, affectionately known as Val, recently attended the Royal Garden Party at Holyrood House in Edinburgh alongside her daughtew
r, Kez. The invitation recognised Val’s outstanding dedication to Scouts and the lasting impact she has had on generations of young people, Val said:
“It was quite the experience! It was a lovely day and a wonderful opportunity to talk to a lot of people from different walks of life and hear about what they’d achieved in order to be recognised with an invitation to the Royal Garden Party.”
Now in her 80s, Val continues to be an active and valued volunteer within Richmondshire Scouts. As District President, she remains passionate about supporting young people to develop skills for life while encouraging volunteers across the District.
Her dedication to Scouts spans many years and has inspired countless young people, volunteers and families. Those who know Val will recognise her enthusiasm, kindness and unwavering commitment to helping others, making this royal recognition especially meaningful.
Everyone at North Yorkshire Scouts is incredibly proud of Val and her achievement. Her invitation to the Royal Garden Party is a wonderful celebration of the difference volunteers make within their communities and the positive impact Scouts continues to have across North Yorkshire.
Congratulations, Val, on this well deserved recognition. It is a proud moment for Richmondshire Scouts and the wider North Yorkshire Scouts community.
