Paddlesport full day

This is open to Scouts/Explorers/Network/Leaders

This full day course is aimed to progress from the half day experiences to help you towards becoming confident paddling a canoe, kayak and/or Standup paddleboard and will look at balance, manoeuvring, accuracy, efficient paddling and will move onto touring, rescues and group skills.

Paddle sport is FUN, EXITING and EXILARATING. This is a full day or to develop those skills already learned and prepare for the next stages/awards. Successful completion of this course may qualify you for a Scout Paddlesport badge and may also qualify towards a British Canoeing (BC) Paddle awards in the future. If you have previously attended Paddle sport activities and have evidence, please bring it with you. All courses qualify towards the Scout Time on the Water Badge.

 

Your session

On arrival, and after a centre briefing, you will have a short discussion with your instructor about what you want out of the day and the format of the training. Then we will Then its onto the water for lots of FUN, learning new skills or refining old. Your sessions will involve Canoe’s, Kayaks and Standup Paddleboards (SUP). Feedback on your achievements will be given by your instructor at the end of the day with an action plan on where to go next.

Arrival at 09.15 for a 09.30 start and departure by 16.45.

A kit list will be sent out with the joining instructions around 2 weeks before the course.
