Sailing half day – Morning

This is open to Cubs (9+)/Scouts/Explorers/Network/Leaders
Sailing is FUN, EXITING and EXILARATING. This is a half day to introduce you to sailing or to develop those skills already learned and prepare for the next stages. Successful completion of this course may qualify you for a Scout Sailsport badge and may also qualify towards a RYA Junior Scheme stage/Adult Level award in the future. If you have previously attended any RYA training courses and have a log book please bring it with you. All courses qualify towards the Scout Time on the Water Badge.
Iām new to Sailing?
As a Cub or Scout you will start on the path of the Youth Sailing Scheme and as an Explorer or older you will start on the Adult Scheme both of which map to the Scout Sailing Stage badges.
Your session
On arrival, and after a centre briefing, you will have a short discussion with your instructor about what you want out of the day and the format of the training. Then we will either rig the boats and get you on the water for some fun and learning or get you on the water and then at the end derig the boats. Feedback on your achievements will be given by your instructor at the end of the day with an action plan on where to go next.
Morning sessions are Arrival at 09.15 for a 09.30 start and departure by 12.30.
Afternoon sessions are Arrival at 13.15 for 13.30 start and departure by 16.30.
A kit list will be sent out with the joining instructions around 2 weeks before the course.
The minimum number for this course is 6 by the closing date.
