3rd Skipton Scout Group is part of Craven District within North Yorkshire Scouts.
North Yorkshire Scouts is pleased to share two significant milestones from 3rd Skipton, highlighting the strength and initiative of its young leaders.
The group has appointed its very first Youth Trustee, Owen P
earson. At 19, Owen is already an active Scout Team Member and brings valuable perspective to the Trustee Board. He was introduced to Scout Team Leader James Horne while attending a Community First Responder course, and it soon became clear that he would be well suited to a wider leadership role within the group. When invited to become a Youth Trustee, he accepted, marking an important step forward for 3rd Skipton.
The introduction of a Youth Trustee ensures that young people have a voice in decision-making and governance. It reflects a growing commitment across North Yorkshire to empower young adults and ensure leadership structures remain representative and forward-thinking.
Alongside this appointment, 3rd Skipton has also launched its very first website: https://3rdskiptonscouts.org.uk/
The website was written and developed by Owen in line with national branding and naming guidance, providing a clear and professional online presence for parents, volunteers and the wider community. It offers accessible information about the group and how to get involved.
Fiona Protheroe, Chair of the group said:
“We are delighted that Owen has agreed to join our Trustee board. He has brought fresh ideas, lots of energy and new skills including developing our new website. We look forward to all working together to continue to support our 3rd Skipton sections.”
