Beavers enjoy chocolate-making experience with Croft’s Chocolates
In May, Falcon Beavers from 42nd St Mark’s Scout Group, took part in a special visit to Croft’s Chocolates for a hands-on chocolate-making workshop.
The session gave the Beavers the chance to learn how chocolate is made, from the cocoa bean through to the finished product. Alex led the workshop, sharing engaging insights into the production process and explaining how different types of chocolate are created.

As well as learning, the Beavers enjoyed a tasting session, trying both milk and dark chocolate before getting creative and making their own chocolate lollies to take home.
The experience was designed to be interactive and practical, helping young people build confidence, follow instructions, and try something new in a fun and supportive environment. Leaders also took part, supporting the activities and sharing in the experience alongside the Beavers.
The session was made possible thanks to the support of SAS Gill and Lynda, along with parent helpers Emma and Cath, whose involvement helped ensure the group could take part safely and get the most out of the visit.
Opportunities like this are a great example of Scouts in action across Scouts North Yorkshire District, helping young people develop skills, broaden their experiences, and take part in activities they might not otherwise have access to.
