Congratulations to all the young people who achieved their Chief Scout Awards!
North Yorkshire Scouts would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to all the young people who received their Chief Scout Awards at the recent Scarborough & District presentation evening. The event was a wonderful celebration of hard work, determination, and the adventurous spirit of Scouts..
The evening brought together families and volunteers to recognise the achievements of Scouts across the district who have reached some of the highest milestones within the movement. Each award marks a young person’s personal journey through Scouts, showcasing their commitment to trying new things, developing new skills, and making a positive impact in their communities.
Among those honoured were Magnus, George, Millie, and Mary, who received their Chief Scout Acorn Award as Squirrel Scouts. This is the first top award for our youngest members, aged 4–6, and celebrates their curiosity, kindness, and teamwork. These young Squirrels have already shown what it means to live by the Scout values of care and respect, and their enthusiasm sets a fantastic example for others just starting their Scout adventure.
Violet and Alfie proudly received their Chief Scout Bronze Award, the highest award in Beaver Scouts. To earn this, they completed a range of challenges, from learning practical skills and helping in their community to demonstrating creativity and teamwork. Their achievement highlights the confidence and independence that Beavers gain through fun and friendship.
Moving up through the sections, Spencer, Anna, Indie, Ernie, Harrison, and Lola achieved the Chief Scout Silver Award, the top accolade for Cub Scouts. This award recognises their growth in leadership, problem-solving, and resilience, as well as their willingness to take on new experiences. From outdoor adventures to learning about global issues, these Cubs have worked hard to earn an award that truly reflects their determination and character.
For Scouts, the Chief Scout Gold Award represents a significant milestone. Isaac, Daniel, Matthew, Molly, and Noah were recognised for their efforts, having shown strong leadership and teamwork while embracing challenges and helping others. This award encourages Scouts to push their boundaries, gain new skills, and prepare for future opportunities both within and beyond Scouting.
“I’ve loved every part of earning my Chief Scout Gold Award,” said Molly, one of this year’s award recipients. “It’s pushed me to try things I never thought I could do, like camping in the rain and leading a team on a hike. I’ve made great friends and learned so much about teamwork and confidence. It feels amazing to know all the effort has paid off.”
Finally, James and Ruby were presented with their Chief Scout Platinum Award, an exceptional achievement within the Explorer Scout section. This award is the result of consistent effort, commitment to community action, and participation in adventurous activities. It demonstrates the maturity, initiative, and leadership qualities that Explorers develop as they prepare for adulthood.
Each of these awards represents months – and often years – of effort, learning, and adventure. The recipients have taken part in camps, hikes, challenges, and service projects that have shaped their confidence and character. They have shown that Scouts is more than just fun and adventure; it’s about growth, friendship, and making a difference.
A huge well done to everyone who received their award. You should all be immensely proud of what you’ve accomplished. Your achievements are a testament to the spirit of Scouts in North Yorkshire – helping young people gain skills for life while having fun along the way.
