Historic Achievement for Staynor Hall Scouts: First Ever Chief Scout’s Gold Awards Earned
Selby, North Yorkshire – July 23, 2025 — The 1st Staynor Hall Scout Group is proud
to celebrate a landmark achievement as two of its Scouts, Alex Tweedlie and Rose
Gibson, become the first members in the group’s history to receive the
prestigious Chief Scout’s Gold Award.
Founded in 2018, the 1st Staynor Hall Scout Group has grown steadily, offering
young people in the Selby area opportunities to develop skills, confidence, and
friendships through Scouting. Both Alex and Rose were among the original
members of the group, joining as Beavers when the section first opened.
Over the years, they have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the Scouting
journey, earning their Bronze and Silver Awards before reaching the pinnacle with
the Gold. Their enthusiasm and leadership have made them key figures within the
Troop, especially in recent months as they’ve taken on roles helping to deliver
activities to younger Scouts.
Now, with their Gold Awards achieved, both are preparing for the next chapter in
their Scouting journey. Rose will be joining Thorpe Willoughby as a Young Leader,
while Alex will take on the same role within the Staynor Hall Beavers section starting
this September.
“We are incredibly proud of Alex and Rose,” said a spokesperson for the 1st Staynor
Hall Scout Group. “Their journey from our very first Beavers to becoming our first
Gold Award recipients is a testament to their dedication and the strength of our
Scouting community.”
