Nights Away Permit Training Weekend

Nights Away Permit Training Weekend

Nights Away Permit Training Weekend   20/21/22 September 2024

EVENT FULL! More dates will be set up.

The objective of the weekend is to provide training and assessment for a wide range of leaders with differing skill sets to either achieve a permit for the first time or secure an upgrade to the next level. The weekend will look to cover all aspects of campsite, greenfield and lightweight expedition permits.  Depending on the candidates experience and knowledge coming into the weekend it is the intention that those who meet the criteria and requisite standard will be assessed over the weekend and “leave” with a permit.
There is no intention to cut any corners or lower the standard, that approach doesn’t support safe and responsible scouting but pooling resources and expertise together from across the county will enable the process to be greatly expedited.
The precise details of the weekend’s programme are still being finalised but they will be focussed around Modules 16 and 38 content coupled with a broad range of practical skills too. Think: mess tent building, camp cooking, budgeting, OSM, risk assessment, camp layout, camp hygiene, building a leader team, planning a programme and the list goes on and on.
It’s also highly likely that some folk might be leading a campfire song for their very first time.
All candidates will get a support pack to take away from the event containing key documents, templates and other resources to ensure they can hit the ground running and deliver a fabulous camp for their section very soon after the training weekend.
We expect demand to be very high as places are limited to just 50. ACT NOW to ensure you get a place.
